I started the practice of fish keeping around the age of 7 years old.
Like most people, my first fish was a goldfish, crammed into a little round 1/2 gallon bowl.? From there I moved on up, WAY UP, to a huge "10 gallon" tank :)? I've always had tanks throughout the years. But after getting married and having kids I dropped out of the hobby for 6 years only to get the itch to start again. But this time I wanted something different than tetra's and Barbs and such that I was accustomed to. So I started looking around and thought about Cichlids but I really wasn't interested in what I thought were mean nasty fish that had to be fed live food and killed eveyrthing in site! Yet, still being set on getting into something I'd never kept before I stumbled upon a local store specializing in cichlids called Something fishy. Not convinced I was going to find anything I was interested in I decided to go check it out anyway to find out what these so called "Cichlids" were all about.? I literally walked in and found the owner "Dave" and asked him something like "So tell me why are these cichlids so great and why should I buy them?". He responded with something that seemed like a 20 minute answer that had me fascinated yet somewhat glassy eyed with all of these crazy scientific names he was rattling off, and going on and on about things that I had never heard of. Somehow I Instantly knew I wanted Cichlids. It wasn't really the things he said but more the genuine passion he had for the fish that had me interested. His love for Cichlids and the beautiful in wall tank in the showroom has had me hooked by the Cichlid bug ever since. I still currently drop by Something fishy about every 2 weeks or so looking for that "special fish" that I just have to have. In the past 1 1/2 years I've now up to 4 tanks, including a 90 gallon. And I am currently raising my first batch of Acei fry. Overall, I'm still a beginner at Cichlids, but I'm learning more and more everyday and I fear now there is no going back ! If you've found this site I'm sure you can relate.
I hope you like the site and quality decals I have to offer.
If you have a particular fish style you would like to see, please feel free to drop me an email, and I will try to add it to our collection.
